Help name our MakerSpace!

Even though we do enjoy the Bozeman MakerSpace name, I think we can do better. We will be running a contest in a couple of months in order to officially select a name that will include some prizes for the most creative, funniest, and finally the selected name.

but I really do think that Bozeman Makerspace is a good name. Other more creative names are nice, but they aren't terribly descriptive for an outsider or a new potential member. I came across this group via a poster at the Daily, and I can say that if it was called something like Nerd Invasion or Overlord Industries, I probably wouldn't have given it second thought, mistaking it for another LAN party group or something similar. Whatever the name ends up being, I think it's important that it's descriptive of the group and its aims.

So far, I agree with Nerd Invasion the most. But I think it kinda lacks description. Montana Ethical Hackers(MEH) has had surprising success using our tongue-in-cheek name as a viral recruiting tool. Yeah, it worries parents, but our younger generation loves it. MEH lacks description too and the Feds keep trying to fund us... but none of us want attachment and dependence on federal government. Plus it's viral. I always hated apathy.

Bozeman Makerspace is okay, but it sounds so corporate and institutionalized. That's what the University is for. You guys are different. I think you need to set a tone for the community you want to have in the future.

You can always DBA something else if you choose to go the acronym route. The darn Argentinians already have "BAH"... but BLARG, BAM and BOMB aren't taken. BAM is okay. How about Bozeman's Artisan Makers? It's not really hackerly... at all, but it would be easier for you to get grants.

I think it needs to be edgier than BAM. Replace the A with something?... or perhaps use a collaboration of ideas: BOMB(Bozeman's Obdurant Makerspace of Bozeman). Hmmm... might give people the wrong Idea. LOL but come on, it's funny! Nah... you run a risk of bringing light to too much liability dangers. I like using Bozeman twice. Hmmm.. what about BOT Space? That one hasn't been used... But now to make it descriptive... Bozeman's Obscure Technology Space? That would be perfect!

So I suggest(in order of preference):
BOTS or BOT-Space or BOTechS or BObsTechS or BozObsTeSpac
BAM
BOMB
and
BLARG<-- ^_^ yay! I just couldn't make it work though

I just joined this organization literally 5 minutes ago, figured I'd throw some ideas out there. Honestly I'm pretty happy with Bozeman MakerSpace.
